Artificial Intelligence is helping to discover other planets.

This is a review of some artificial intelligence news that happened throughout the week.

Australian scientists developed a sensor that helps to measure and rectify the distortion caused by the earth’s atmosphere on the light emitted by stars, helping the study to discover life on other planets. Uniting Artificial Intelligence and photonics can neutralize the “twinkling” of a star caused by the temperature variation on earth. This team will be deployed in one of the largest telescopes in the world, the Subaru 8.2-meter telescope in Hawaii.

Attack drone with Artificial Intelligence

A drone developed by Boeing is being tested following orders by an operator, it reached a speed of 26 km / h on the runway as well as various maneuvering actions. It was designed to be used with other platforms in a manned and unmanned way, the use of artificial intelligence will be for use in group missions.

Artificial vision applied to detection of threats in crops in Africa

By entering images in an automatic learning platform they are identifying threats to banana crops. With the help of a pixel-based classification system, researchers train a model that detects banana plants in mixed plantations, as farmers grow several plants in a space of land. After this they train the system to detect diseases or threats in order to take action as quickly as possible. Identifying infected crops and preventing their spread to other parts of the country.

Detecting Alzheimer’s through the voice

With the help of automatic learning, it is possible to detect patterns undetectable by humans that help to diagnose if the patient develops Alzheimer’s disease. This in just a couple of minutes with a patient talking, the machine learning tool identifies the necessary patterns that are currently the best to detect the disease with such precision and anticipation.

Investigating the Interaction of Animals with Deep Learning

Researchers from Minnesota have developed a system that captures the movements of monkeys based on deep learning, this helps to study the behavior of macaques that move freely. The system called OpenMonkeyStudio captures markers that are difficult to apply to macaques by other systems such as Vicon, OptiTrack or PhaseSpace. Capture of the markers is complicated by the long, dense fur, supple skin, and the discomfort of the markers caused by the animals causing them to be removed.

Thanks for reading, I hope you have informed yourself of something new. See you in the next edition.
